The Coastal Explorers’ Day

Arrival for Camp:
In good weather the Coastal Explorers’ day will begin at the pool. If it is raining in the morning or evening, please check with gate personnel. Please display the Coastal Explorers entry pass as you arrive at the gate. Please remember the maximum speed limit on campus is 20 mph.

Hours:
Camp will open for the day at 7:30 a.m. and close at 5:00 p.m. Please follow the schedule of 7:30-8:30 a.m. drop-off and pick-up times of 5:00-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. A late fee of $5 for every 15 minutes will be charged after 5:30 p.m. Please send a note or advise camp staff if another person is to pick up your child in the afternoon.

Meals & Snacks:
Campers must bring lunch daily. Cold punch or water will be provided during the camp day. Avoid sandwich materials that spoil easily. Please pack lunch in a plastic bag or lunch box marked with camper’s name. Camper’s lunches will be transported to the Assembly’s air-conditioned cafeteria where they will eat.

Program:
A weekly schedule of activities will be posted at the Coastal Explorers (CE) building or available upon request. The weekly program will include a blend of educational and recreational activities. Some programs may require specific clothing needs. Please refer to the schedule so that each camper is prepared. Campers will have various special program guests who will come on site for special events. CE campers will not be transported off campus.

Camper Guidelines

Dress Guidelines:
a. Shoes (appropriate for walking and recreational activities please), shorts and a camp T-shirt must be worn at all times in and around camp. Additional Coastal Explorer shirts are available for purchase.
b. A bathing suit, towel and possibly a sweatshirt may be needed for the pool and beach. Due to the nature of many of the Coastal Explorer activities, we request that the girls wear a modest one piece bathing suit or tankini. This is a request made of all our youth campers as well and both groups often swim at the same time. If your daughter does not have a one piece suit or tankini, she will be asked to wear a shirt over her bathing suit.
c. Sunglasses, visor or hat, and waterproof sunscreen are recommended for each camper.
d. Campers will be responsible for all the items they bring to camp, therefore, please label all belongings with the camper's name and pack everything in a gym bag or backpack.

Discipline:
Coastal Explorers is not set up nor staffed to provide one on one attention to a camper for extended periods of time. They will be expected to cooperate as one of 45 in the program. Special discipline problems will be discussed with the parents as necessary and may include immediate release of a child from the program if deemed necessary by camp directors (example: physical violence toward other campers or staff). Please read and sign the Behavioral Agreement.

Safety:
The Assembly prohibits all of the following items in order to make Caswell a safe and peaceful place: skateboards, scooters, music boxes, fireworks, pets, squirt guns, mini-bikes, bicycles or skates.

First Aid:
Our staff is trained in first aid. For emergencies beyond our training the local Rescue Squad will be called, as well as the parents. Please see attached insurance information.

Lost & Found:
Items will be placed in our Coastal Explorers headquarters. All items must be claimed within 30 days. Please mark all items brought from home.
